USS George H. W. Bush (CVN-77) is the tenth and last Nimitz class supercarrier of the US Navy, named for former President George H. W. Bush. She is the second United States aircraft carrier to be named after a naval aviator, and while still a Nimitz class ship, she differs significantly from her predecessors. She is scheduled to be delivered in late 2008 and commissioned in 2009. She is expected to operate as a Navy warship for about 50 years.

The ship's namesake and 41st president of the United States, George H. W. Bush, attended the christening ceremony on October 7, 2006. Several members of the Bush family were on hand for the special occasion, including the former president’s wife Barbara and their daughter Doro Bush Koch, who served as the ship's sponsor. President George W. Bush was also in attendance and honored his father during the ceremony as a special guest speaker.

A million pounds of aluminum and 47,000 tons of structural steel went into the construction of George H. W. Bush. Her top speed exceeds 30 knots and two nuclear reactors will allow her to operate for more than 20 years without refueling. At 1,092 feet long, she is nearly as long as the Empire State Building is tall. She will be home to about 6,000 Navy personnel.
