Shamrock V 20"

The only remaining J boat to have been made from wood, Shamrock V was the first British yacht to be built to the new J Class Rule. She was constructed in 1930 at Camper & Nicholsons in Gosport, England, for Sir Thomas Lipton's fifth and final America's Cup challenge. She was launched on April 14, 1930, after which she was continually upgraded with changes to hull shape and rudder.

Shamrock V was a challenger at the 14th America's Cup. Despite having a modified rig, she was was still no match for the faster defender Enterprise and lost at the race. After Lipton's death in 1931, she was sold to Sir T.O.M. Sopwith who sailed her as a trial horse to familiarize himself with the J Class. He used his experience from Shamrock V to build Endeavour.

In 1934, Shamrock V was sold to Sir Richard Fairey of Fairey Aviation. She raced with English J's and Yankee during the 1935 season. In 1937, Italian senator and press publisher Mario Crespi bought Shamrock V and renamed her Sea Song. He installed an elegant birdseye maple interior which the yacht still has today.

In 1986, the Lipton Tea Company purchased Shamrock V from Italian yachtsman Piero Scanu and donated her to the Museum of Yachting in Newport, Rhode Island. From 1988 to 1989, the boat was restored under the supervision of Elizabeth Meyer. During August 2001, Shamrock V joined Endeavour and Velsheda for the first J Class Regatta, the first regatta for the J Class yachts in UK waters after more than 65 years. She also competed in the America's Cup Jubilee in Solent, England.

Bring any empty space to life with the Shamrock V wooden yacht model. From planning to packaging, each step is performed with utmost care; everything is done by hand. Master craftsmen become magicians as they turn simple pieces of mahogany into yacht replicas. After the wood is sanded and puttied, talented artists duplicate every single detail with extraordinary accuracy. Hand-casted resin and handmade metal parts complete the yacht. A final coat of clear lacquer provides lasting protection for the product. Each model yacht comes on a display base with brass pedestals and a brass name plate, and undergoes various stages of quality control. A double-lined box with high density foam ensures the safe arrival of each item.
